Her Story

Born into service.

Built for community.

I was not born into politics. I was born into service. My mother served her community until her frailest days. My father served as a civil servant and political figure back home until retirement. Service is in my blood.

I am Dr Idorenyin Charles Itauma — known as Dr Idee. I am an NHS Urgent Care Clinician and medicolegal expert, active in community service, a public speaker, a political candidate, and a founder. I graduated as a Medical Doctor from Nigeria, later earning a Master's degree in Occupational Medicine from the University of Aberdeen and an NHS Leadership Certification.

With over 23 years across Accident and Emergency, Acute Medicine, Critical Care, and Urgent Care, I have worked in departments across the UK including the Manchester Foundation Trust Senior Emergency Training Programme and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. I am currently an Associate Specialist at Northeast Lincolnshire Community Hospital Trust.

As a Black clinician active in community service, I founded The Health Gospel CIC to challenge the systemic and cultural barriers that prevent minority communities from thriving. I am also proud to stand as the first Black woman in Northeast Lincolnshire to run for a local council seat, as Labour Candidate for East Marsh Ward 2026.

Politics needs what medicine already knows:

treat the root,
not just the symptom.

A Doctor's Lesson on Life

Humanity in a
Busy World

What does a doctor learn after 23 years of sitting with people at their most vulnerable? That medicine is not just science. It is humanity. It is the pause between the diagnosis and the patient's tears. It is the hand held in a busy A&E corridor.

In this deeply personal book, Dr Idee reflects on two decades at the frontline of healthcare. She writes about the patients who changed her, the systems that challenged her, and the communities that reminded her why she became a doctor in the first place.

Humanity in a Busy World is for anyone who has ever felt unseen by the systems meant to serve them — and for everyone who serves within those systems and needs reminding why it matters.

East Marsh 2026

A New Kind
of Representation.

“Politics needs what medicine already knows: treat the root, not just the symptom.”

Dr Idorenyin Charles Itauma — Labour Party Candidate, East Marsh 2026

Dr Idee is standing as the Labour Party candidate for East Marsh Ward in the 2026 local elections — proud to be the first Black woman to stand for local election in northeast Lincolnshire. Her campaign is built on the belief that the challenges facing East Marsh are not surface problems. They have root causes. And that is where she intends to start.

There are those in our communities who feel that politics has never worked for them. That the system was built by others, for others. Dr Idee understands that feeling — and she also knows this truth: the only way to change a system is to be inside it. She is not asking anyone to trust a party. She is asking them to trust a person who has sat with them, worked alongside them, and refuses to leave them behind.
