Too many Black and minority women in Northeast Lincolnshire are living with domestic abuse, poor mental health, and barriers to wellbeing that the system was never designed to reach. The Breaking Barriers Women's Wellbeing Project exists to change that. Not by waiting for women to find the services. By going to where they are, listening deeply, and building the pathways that make it safe to come forward.
Working with women's groups across Northeast Lincolnshire
Gathering direct evidence of barriers to reporting and help-seeking
Creating safe, culturally responsive spaces for honest conversation
Working alongside domestic abuse organisations and services
Delivering education on community safety and available support
Building a network of wraparound care for women who come forward
Training Community Domestic Abuse Champions from within the community
Equipping women to support their peers and encourage help-seeking
Building lasting community capacity that outlives the project itself
Not by waiting for women to find the services.
By going to where they are.
The Breaking Barriers project is funded and delivered in partnership with Northeast Lincolnshire Council, Hull and multiple domestic abuse services and community organisations across the region. It is part of The Health Gospel CIC's ongoing commitment to closing the gap between the communities who need support most and the services that exist to provide it.
